After 11 years in the coffee business, Djournal needed a fresh new face to reestablish their presence on the landscape. As a business that aims to ‘make everyone’s day, every day,’ the new identity needed to integrate a spark of excitement to the everyday to effectively pursue its relevance in a broader audience. This brand refreshment needed to be familiar but certainly not subtle, noticeable but not completely disconnected. Carrying the big idea of ‘Sparks the (D)ay’, Djournal’s new face embraces vibrant colors and shows more personality.
Maintaining the signature Djournal turquoise, the logo adapts the ‘D’ from the original logo into a crest with an adapted seven-pointed spark derived from the symbol of an Egyptian goddess, Seshat, to represent Djournal’s every day excitement through all 7 days of the week. The Many will have noticed the shift from ‘Djournal Coffee’ to simply ‘Djournal’ in the new brand name and logotype. This not only allows the Djournal to leave more of an impact visually with a one-word brand name but also notes the changes the brand is taking as more beverage-focused rather than coffee-focused.
