The reign of each duke is marked with the creation of a royal emblem. With his ascension, the 10th duke, Mangkoenagoro X, sees the role of his emblem as an opportunity to fortify his vision of a future-forward Javanese principality with a brand identity that encapsulates his reign, Pura Mangkunegaran (palace) and all the entities that fall under his jurisdiction. Solidifying Mangkunegaran as an IP, inherently redefining public perception of Mangkunegaran's role in present day Indonesia. The new emblem and identity takes on a contemporary approach but does not stray too far from the sacred elements of emblems prior. The prevalent use of green and yellow in the color palette is derived from two colors of the Mangkunegaran flag. There are also 2 versions of the emblem, one for primarily external-facing purposes and another, featuring the rice and cotton wreath and sun rays, for more internal purposes relating to the royal family and significant cultural ceremonies held by the palace.
